Almost Half Of UK Online Shoppers Buy From Foreign-Based Online Retailers

In the UK, 48 percent of online shoppers said they have made an online purchase from a foreign-based retailer, according the study eCustomerServiceIndex by eDigitalResearch and IMRG. Data showed price and availability are the leading factors prompting UK online consumers to buy from online retailers outside the country. Also, results revealed 60 percent of online buyers said they bought from foreign e-retailer because of more affordable prices, while another 60 percent said they chose to buy overseas because the products they wanted were not available locally. Clothing, footwear, and jewelry are the most frequently purchased by UK online consumers from overseas retailers. Results of the survey also showed 64 percent of online buyers spend up to £50 per transaction with foreign-based online retailers.
